Q4 deadlines are stacking up. But urgency is not a strategy, and a rushed application can expose weak systems that should have been strengthened long before a deadline appeared.
Funding follows structure. Most organizations don't have a funding problem. They have an infrastructure problem. A wolf doesn’t build a pack by sprinting after every opportunity; it builds strength through readiness, clear roles, and coordination. Brick Builders do the same.
This week’s lineup includes five national opportunities: cash grants, a non-cash advertising program, and a founder fellowship with an education grant. Two application deadlines arrive before mid-December. Start by checking whether the opportunity fits your mission and your organization’s ability to deliver, not just whether the deadline is close.
The 7-Bricks Readiness Check Before You Apply
Use the 7 Bricks Framework™ as a pre-application checklist. Before you invest time in a proposal, ask whether the organization can show funders a sound foundation:
- Brick 1: Mission & Mindset. Can you connect the proposed work to a clear mission and a specific community need?
- Brick 2: Board Governance/Advisory Council. Is there active oversight and relevant expertise to support the project?
- Brick 3: Strategic Programming/Strong Offers. Is the project defined, outcomes-driven, and deliverable, not just an idea?
- Brick 4: Financial & Legal Infrastructure. Are your status, records, budget, and compliance practices in order?
- Brick 5: Multiple Streams of Revenue. Does the project fit a broader funding plan, rather than relying on one award?
- Brick 6: Brand & Marketing. Can the right people find and understand your work?
- Brick 7: Leadership & Team. Are roles, capacity, and accountability clear enough to carry out the work?
A Brick Builder doesn’t apply first and figure out the foundation later. Build the foundation first. Strong organizations attract funding. Weak organizations chase funding.

What Funders Are Signaling Right Now
Q4 deadlines can cluster between mid-November and mid-December. This week’s lineup makes the planning challenge concrete: one deadline is November 17, another November 30, and two are December 15. Build application capacity in advance: assign owners, gather documents, and set internal deadlines before the final week.
The federal fiscal year 2027 began October 1, which is a cue to watch for new agency opportunities, not a guarantee that a particular grant is available. If you pursue federal procurement opportunities, verify current definitions and procedures directly in FAR 2.101 and FAR Part 13 before acting. Rules can change, and the right interpretation depends on the opportunity.
Corporate and foundation programs may also ask for more than a standard application. Some combine funding with education, courses, or cohort participation. Read the full requirements: the program may assess both the organization’s readiness and the founder’s growth potential.
And funders look for evidence that a project can be managed. The Woodard & Curran application requests an operating budget and a project scope-of-work PDF with a schedule and budget. The DTA Foundation’s criteria emphasize innovation, sustainability, and scalability. Those expectations point back to Brick 4 and Brick 7: clear numbers, realistic delivery, and people accountable for results.
This Week’s Complete National Grant Lineup
Listed below are the five opportunities open this week. Important: Google Ad Grants is in-kind advertising credit, not cash. The Tory Burch Fellows Program includes a $5,000 education grant and cohort benefits; it is included as a founder-program opportunity, not as a $25,000 cash grant.
Nonprofit opportunities
1. Featured: Dental Trade Alliance Foundation 2026 Grant Program
Award: $25,000 grants for nonprofit-led pilot projects that improve access to oral healthcare, especially for underserved populations. The 2026 priority is children’s oral health. Eligible principal organizations may include 501(c)(3), 501(c)(6), or 509(a) organizations, universities, and government agencies. The application deadline is November 30, 2026.
The foundation does not fund indirect costs, fundraising campaigns, endowments, or current personnel salaries. New personnel hired for the project may be fundable. Funds must be used for future expenses, not retroactive reimbursement. Decisions are expected in summer 2027, with funding in September–October 2027 and a one-year project period.
How to apply: Review the official grant details and submit through the official application portal. Questions can be sent to Jackie Michaels at jackiemichaels@dentaltradealliance.org.
Winning Tip: Build the proposal around the committee’s three stated criteria: innovation, sustainability and scalability, and improved access for underserved populations. If your pilot serves children’s oral health, say so directly: it is the 2026 priority.
2. Woodard & Curran Foundation 2027 Impact Grant
Award: One $150,000 grant for a one-year project running spring 2027 through spring 2028. The project must be based in the United States and focus on protecting, restoring, or managing water and environmental resources. Applicants must be U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofits.
How to apply: Start on the official Impact Grant page. Prepare your mission statement, annual operating budget, EIN, a project summary of up to 500 characters, and one PDF of no more than three pages in at least 12-point type. The PDF must include scope of work, project schedule, and budget. The form is not saveable. Deadline: December 15, 2026. Grant-related questions: grants@woodardcurranfoundation.org.
Winning Tip: Prepare everything before opening the form. Use the short PDF to show practical implementation: name milestones, assign responsibilities, and connect each budget line to project work. The foundation highlights community-scale impact, sustainability, and real-world implementation.
3. Google Ad Grants
Award: Up to $10,000 per month in in-kind Google Search advertising, not cash. Applications are rolling. Eligible U.S. nonprofits generally need their own 501(c)(3) status and must pass Google’s nonprofit verification process. Government entities, hospitals or healthcare organizations, schools, and fiscally sponsored organizations without their own 501(c)(3) are not eligible under Google’s current guidelines.
How to apply: Check Google’s official program page, review eligibility requirements, then request a Google for Nonprofits account through Get started. After verification, activate Ad Grants and follow its account and website policies.
Winning Tip: Treat this as a Brick 6 multiplier, not free money with no strings attached. Plan account management and a focused giving-season campaign so people searching for your cause can find you, and your website gives them a clear next step.
For-profit opportunities
4. Hiring Our Heroes Small Business Grant Program
Award: Five one-time cash grants: four awards of $10,000 and one of $25,000. The program is for qualifying for-profit businesses that are at least 51% owned by a veteran and/or military spouse, have 3–20 employees, and generate less than $5 million in annual revenue. Applicants must meet the program’s location and economic vulnerability or financial-hardship criteria. Deadline: December 15, 2026.
How to apply: Read the official program rules, confirm that the business and owner meet the full criteria, and submit through the official application page.
Winning Tip: The rules focus on economic vulnerability or financial need caused by hardship beyond the owner’s control. Document the circumstances with specifics, then explain what the grant enables the business to do next. That is Brick 3 and Brick 5 thinking: connect the need to a strong offer and a path to growth.
5. Tory Burch Foundation 2027 Fellows Program
Award and support: The official program FAQ lists a $5,000 education grant plus a year of programming: an influential advisor network, professional business coaching, an exclusive community platform, high-touch workshops, a virtual resource library, holistic founder support, additional access to capital, and the annual Founders Circle. It is a cohort-based opportunity for women entrepreneurs, not a $25,000 cash grant. Approximately 160 Fellows are selected.
Applicants must be at least 21, a U.S. resident, and the largest or equally largest owner of a qualifying for-profit business. The company must be at least 51% women-owned and controlled, formed under U.S. law, operating in the United States, and generating at least $75,000 annually. Applications close November 17, 2026, at 11:59:59 p.m. ET; there is no application fee.
How to apply: Review the official Fellows page and its eligibility and rules, then submit a complete application through the official application portal.
Winning Tip: This program includes founder development as well as education funding. Explain how the learning investment connects to your business trajectory, revenue growth, and leadership capacity: Brick 5 and Brick 7 in action.
Build the Funding Wolfpack: Grant Stacking Without Double-Dipping
Grant stacking means funding different portions of a program with different awards. It does not mean billing the same expense to two grants unless both funders explicitly permit it.
Use Brick 4 discipline: keep a shared budget tracker that names each expense, funding source, restriction, and reporting requirement. Before accepting or spending funds, compare the award terms and project budgets. And require human review and approval before any application is submitted.
A wolf pack moves well because every member knows its role. Your funding plan should work the same way: each source has a defined job, and every dollar is accounted for.

“Funding follows structure.”
“Implementation beats information.”
“The goal is not to win a grant. The goal is to build an organization capable of winning funding repeatedly.”
“Don't leave money on the table.”
